Which cordless saw is best for DIY projects?
It depends on the cut. A cordless circular saw is best for long, straight cuts in boards and panels; a cordless jigsaw is the choice for curves and cut-outs; a reciprocating saw is ideal for rough cuts, pipes, demolition and branches. The mini circular saw is handy for plunge cuts and smaller panels.
Can a cordless saw cut metal?
Yes, with the right blade. The jigsaws cut thin metal (up to 10 mm with the 18V Brushless Jigsaw), the reciprocating saws cut metal pipes and profiles, and the 18V Mini Circular Saw 89 mm can also be used on metal with a suitable blade.
Are batteries and chargers included?
Most saws are offered in several versions: tool only, or with a battery and charger. The 18V saws use Maxxpack batteries and the 12V reciprocating saws use Fixxpack batteries, so an existing Batavia battery from the same platform fits.
Is a cordless saw as powerful as a corded saw?
For most DIY and renovation work, yes. The 18V models, such as the 165 mm circular saw with 3,800 rpm or the brushless jigsaw, deliver plenty of power. For long sessions a 4.0Ah battery gives more runtime.
Can I use a cordless saw for garden work?
Yes. The 12V cordless reciprocating saws have a branch clamping jaw that holds branches steady while you cut, and the 18V reciprocating saw is also suitable for pruning thicker branches.
How easy is it to change the saw blade?
The jigsaws and reciprocating saws have tool-free blade changes. The circular saws use a spindle lock for quick, safe blade replacement.
