Cordless multitools: sawing, sanding, scraping and more in one tool

A cordless multitool, also called an oscillating tool or oscillating multi-tool, replaces a whole drawer of specialist tools. Swap the accessory and you can saw, sand, scrape, cut or grind, even in corners and tight spaces where other power tools cannot reach. Batavia offers battery-powered multitools on the 18V Maxxpack platform, a compact 12V cordless rotary tool for detail work, and a corded 300W model for long sessions.

Our multitools

  • 18V Cordless Anti-Vibration Multitool: the motor is decoupled from the housing for lower vibration and noise. Adjustable speed and tool-free accessory change.
  • 18V Cordless Oscillating Multitool: sawing, scraping, sanding and grinding with adjustable speed, tool-free accessory change, dust extraction adapter and a set of accessories included.
  • 12V Cordless Rotary Tool: a compact rotary tool (not oscillating) for drilling, routing, engraving, sanding and polishing, with 7 speed settings, spindle lock and 50 accessories. Runs on the 12V Fixxpack battery.
  • Corded alternative: the 300W Multitool with Anti-Vibration System, with variable speed up to 22,000 rpm, LED work light and tool-free accessory changes, for when a socket is close by.

Applications

  • Sawing and plunge cuts: door frames, skirting boards, plasterboard and pipes
  • Sanding: corners, edges and window frames before painting
  • Scraping: old silicone, adhesive, paint and floor covering residue
  • Grinding and detail work: mortar, grout and small repairs
  • Engraving, routing and polishing with the rotary tool

See the multitool in action in our guides to repairing wood rot in window frames, sealing with silicone sealant and installing a door frame.

Features worth knowing

  • Anti-vibration system on the 18V Anti-Vibration and 300W models, for less hand fatigue and more precise work.
  • Tool-free accessory change on all oscillating models.
  • Adjustable speed: low for sanding and delicate materials, high for fast cutting.
  • Dust extraction adapter on the 18V Oscillating Multitool.
  • Spindle lock and 7 speeds on the 12V Rotary Tool.

Why choose a battery-powered multitool?

Multitools are used for short, precise jobs all over the house: a quick cut in a skirting board upstairs, scraping a joint in the bathroom, sanding a window frame outside. A cordless oscillating tool is ready in seconds, with no cable to catch on a ladder and no need for a nearby socket. The 18V multitools share the Maxxpack battery with 50+ Batavia tools, and the rotary tool uses the compact Fixxpack battery. Pair it with a cordless detail sander for larger surfaces.

Frequently asked questions about cordless multitools

What is a cordless multitool used for?

An oscillating multitool saws, sands, scrapes, cuts and grinds with interchangeable accessories. It is ideal for plunge cuts in wood and plasterboard, trimming door frames, removing old silicone or adhesive and sanding corners.

What is the difference between an oscillating multitool and a rotary tool?

An oscillating multitool moves its accessory rapidly from side to side, which suits sawing, scraping and sanding. A rotary tool, like the 12V Cordless Rotary Tool, spins a small bit at high speed for drilling, routing, engraving and polishing fine details.

Cordless or corded multitool: which should I choose?

The 18V cordless multitools offer freedom of movement and are ready for use anywhere. The corded 300W Multitool delivers continuous power up to 22,000 rpm for long jobs when a socket is nearby.

What does anti-vibration mean?

On the 18V Anti-Vibration Multitool and the 300W Multitool, the motor is decoupled from the housing. This reduces the vibration reaching your hand, so you can work longer and more precisely. The 18V model also runs more quietly.

How do I change accessories?

The oscillating multitools have a tool-free accessory change, so you can swap a saw blade for a sanding pad in seconds. The rotary tool uses a spindle lock for quick bit changes.

Which battery do the cordless multitools use?

The 18V multitools use the Maxxpack battery, shared with 50+ Batavia tools. The 12V Cordless Rotary Tool uses the Fixxpack battery. Both are available as tool only or as a set.
