Cordless reciprocating saws for demolition, pipes and branches

A cordless reciprocating saw, also known as a sabre saw or recip saw, is the all-rounder for fast, rough cuts in almost any material. Batavia's battery-powered reciprocating saws cut wood, metal, plastic and PVC, and even branches in the garden, without a cable holding you back. Choose a compact 12V Fixxpack saw for light jobs and pruning, or the 18V Maxxpack model for heavier renovation work.

Applications

  • Renovation and demolition: cutting through studs, battens and old framing

  • Garden work: pruning branches and cutting up prunings with the branch clamp
  • Recycling wood: dismantling pallets and old furniture

Tackling trees and shrubs? Our guides explain how and when to prune trees and how to prune trees and hedges safely.

Features at a glance

  • Tool-free blade change: switch from a wood blade to a metal blade in seconds.
  • Variable speed / stroke rate: slow for control at the start of a cut, fast for quick progress.
  • Branch clamping jaw on the 12V saws: holds a branch steady for a safer, controlled cut.
  • Compact, ergonomic design: comfortable in tight corners, overhead or at ground level.

Tip: choose a longer blade for thick branches and demolition, a fine-toothed metal blade for pipes, and start each cut at a low speed before accelerating.

Why a battery-powered reciprocating saw?

Reciprocating saws are often used where there is no power: in the garden, in a stripped-out room or up a ladder. A cordless sabre saw removes the cable, the trip hazard and the risk of sawing into the lead. The 12V models share their battery with every Fixxpack tool, while the 18V saw runs on the Maxxpack battery that fits 50+ Batavia tools. Already own a battery? Choose the tool-only version and save. Extra batteries are available in batteries and chargers.

Frequently asked questions about cordless reciprocating saws

What is the difference between the 12V and 18V cordless reciprocating saw?

The 12V saws are compact and light, with a branch clamping jaw, ideal for pruning, battens and thin pipes. The 18V saw offers more power for demanding materials such as thicker wood, metal, PVC and even stone, and runs on the Maxxpack platform.

Can a cordless reciprocating saw cut metal?

Yes. With a metal-cutting blade, all models cut metal pipes and profiles. Use the variable speed to start slowly for a controlled cut.

Is a reciprocating saw suitable for pruning branches?

Yes. The 12V cordless reciprocating saws have a branch clamping jaw that holds the branch firmly while you cut. The 18V saw is also suitable for thicker branches.

Do I need a special battery?

The 12V saws use Fixxpack batteries and the 18V saw uses Maxxpack batteries. Each saw is available as tool only or as a set with battery and charger, so you can use a battery you already own from the same platform.

How do I change the blade?

All Batavia cordless reciprocating saws have a tool-free blade change: release the blade holder, swap the blade and lock it again, without any extra tools.

What safety precautions should I take?

Wear safety glasses and gloves, secure the workpiece (use the branch clamp or clamps), hold the saw firmly and keep a stable stance. Always read the manual before first use.
